Due to drifting snow and extremely cold weather, school will start at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 6th. 7th through 12th grade students will report to their 4th hour classes.

We are starting a 2nd & 3rd grade boys basketball team for the North Central Thunder. Information will be handed out to the boys in those classes. There is a meeting scheduled for 9:00 AM in the Bowdle Gym on Saturday, January 8th at 9:00 AM. We will practice until 10:00 AM.


No school today, Wednesday, January 5th due to blowing snow and drifting on roads.

Due to weather, school will start at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 5th. Grades 7-12 will report to their 4th hour classes, and there will be no discovery class with Mrs. Quenzer in the morning.

Due to the weather, there will be no after school practices or activities today.

If there are still students in grades 2-5 that are interested in being Junior Thunder, you can still sign up! Cost is $15 per game. You will receive a shirt, get into the game free, get to be announced with the team, and get to have a picture with team/players, and have the team sign your shirt if you want! We would like to thank everyone who donated food and items to the Holiday Food Drive! This was, by far, our most successful food drive yet. Between Pre-K through 12th grade, we will be donating 970 items to our local food pantry. That will help to feed a lot of families this holiday season! For the elementary contest, the 6th grade class were the winners with 82 items and the high school edged out the elementary with 524 items. Congratulations to the North Central Thunder girls’ basketball team. JV won their game as well as Varsity girls taking the win 35-30 against Ipswich last night. Unfortunately, both the boys JV and Varsity lost. JV 17-30 and Varsity 56-24 were the final scores.

The EHS FCCLA, NHS, & Student Council are challenging preschool through 12th grade to participate in a Holiday Food Drive contest. The class from preschool through 6th grade who brings the most non-perishable food items or toiletries for the food Eureka Food Pantry will win a popcorn party! HS students will not have to take a review vocab test if altogether they bring more items than the elementary combined. Please help by giving back to the community during this holiday season. Bring all items by Wednesday, December 15th.

**February 4 – Cam Wal Electric Cooperative Scholarship – Seniors – applicants must be an US citizen and a dependent of a member-system consumer. See Mrs. Mettler for an application.

**Deadlines will vary (most due by March 15, 2022) – Sioux Falls Community Foundation – Seniors – over 150 different scholarship opportunities are available to students who will be attending college this fall – not every scholarship will be available to you. Awards range from $400 - $6,000 per academic year. Application is available at www.sfacf.org See Mrs. Mettler for more information.
**March 26 – Resource Conservation Speech Contest – 9th—12th grade – Topic:” Rivers and Streams Benefit South Dakota”. Cash prizes totaling $2,300. See Mrs. Mettler for entry form.

Come out and support the robotics club. A scalloped potatoes and ham meal will be held from 5:00-6:30 pm in the Eureka school lunchroom. A free will donation can be made.
Tonight, the PK-6th Vocal & Instrumental Concert will be held at 7:00 PM.
