The following letter will be sent home with elementary students today, but we want to make sure that all parents/guardians of Preschool through 12th grade students see it.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
November 14-18 is American Education Week. The Eureka School District has planned some fun activities throughout the week to honor parents, paraprofessionals, retired teachers, and substitute teachers. The Student Council has also come up with some dress up days to celebrate this week which are listed below.
We will kick off the week, Monday, November 14, with the dress up day being Career Day – dress up as your future career. The students will look at baby/toddler pictures of the staff and make their guess who it is.
On Tuesday, November 15th, we would love for you, the parents/guardians to join your child(ren) (Preschool through 12th grade) at school for some cookies. You are welcome to come to the multi between 8:00am and 8:30am. Please get your child(ren) from their classroom before you head to the multi. The dress up day is Oh, The Places You Will Go – wear high school or college attire.
On Wednesday, November 16th, the dress up day is Education Takes Sweat, Determination, and Hard Work – wear sweats or workout gear. We have invited all retired teachers to join us for a meal at school.
We will be honoring our paraprofessionals with some treats on Thursday, November 17th. The dress up day is Hogwarts Makerspace Houses – dress in the colors of your Hogwarts makerspace house.
Lastly, on Friday, November 18th, the dress up day is Trojan Pride Day – dress in red, white, or Eureka Trojan apparel to help show your Eureka School pride. We will be celebrating our substitute teachers who are invited to school for a meal.
There are so many positive things that could be said about each of these groups! Our school system keeps working for the betterment of our students because of each and every one! PARENTS - You are your child’s foundation, support system, and the support system of each teacher, plus so much more. We just want to thank you for all you do!
Research from the National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education shares that “no matter their income or background, students with involved parents are more likely to have higher grades and test scores, attend school regularly, have better social skills, show improved behavior and adapt well to school.” Nov 18, 2019
