Students and staff – please plan to wear red tomorrow, February 10! This is for an FCCLA project showing our support to the military personnel who are deployed. It was suggested for us to wear our red this week with the 147th Army Band performing here that day! FCCLA would like to get a picture in the gym at 8:30 of those wearing red. Congratulations to the NC Thunder girls and boys basketball teams on their win against Strasburg/Zeeland this past Friday night!
The Lady Thunder basketball team traveled to Watertown on Saturday and ended up coming home with a loss 53-44 against Great Plains Lutheran.
Shout out to the Eureka Robotics team. Marcus Popowski and Xavier Aman were on the tournament championship alliance winning first place at Valley City. Becca Batie and Georgia Odenbach won the Judge’s Award. Way to go!
We would like to thank our student section for their spirit and cheering the Thunder on to victories this past week at our home games! **March 8, 2022 – Scrubs Camp for high school students at Presentation College in Aberdeen. It is a one-day career exploration event to learn about the health science career cluster by participating in hands-on sessions led by professionals. Registration due by March 1, 2022. **March 10 – Curtis Marvin Hohn Scholarship – Seniors – Must be attending a college or technical school in South Dakota. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing studies in history, political science, or water resources. See Mrs. Mettler for application.
**March 15 – Bellator Titans Scholarship – Seniors – must attend SD college or tech school, resident of SD, and demonstrate financial need and motivated to succeed – see Mrs. Mettler for application
**March 15 – Horatio Alger Scholarship – JUNIORS – Application form is online at scholars.horatioalger.org - see Mrs. Mettler for more information
**Deadlines will vary (most due by March 15, 2022) – Sioux Falls Community Foundation – Seniors – over 150 different scholarship opportunities are available to students who will be attending college this fall – not every scholarship will be available to you. Awards range from $400 - $6,000 per academic year. Application is available at www.sfacf.org See Mrs. Mettler for more information.
Seniors – the local scholarship are now available on the Eureka School Home Page. They are due Tuesday, March 18. Please give all completed applications to Mrs. Mettler.
**March 26 – Resource Conservation Speech Contest – 9th—12th grade – Topic:” Rivers and Streams Benefit South Dakota”. Cash prizes totaling $2,300. See Mrs. Mettler for entry form.
**April 1, 2022 – Donald H. Quimby Memorial Scholarship – Seniors – Must be attending a SD post-secondary institution. See Mrs. Mettler for an application.
**April 1, 2022, by 4:30 PM – WEB Water Scholarship – Seniors – 3-$1,000 will be awarded – Available to those whose parents or guardians are members of WEB Water – See Mrs. Mettler with any questions.
