Ten Eureka students participated in the 2025 Eureka Geography Bee, which was held on January 22. The winner of the bee was eighth grader Judah Fargher. Keiara Wherry (6th grade) finished in second place, and Gavin Rohrbach (7th grade) finished in third place. Other participants in the geography bee were: Tylee Vander Vorst, 8th grade; Maddyx Grenz, 7th grade; Samantha Rohrbach, 6th grade; Jimmy Hall and Brennan Opp, 5th grade; and Ruxin Grenz and Keanu Wells, 4th grade.
The geography bee helps highlight the importance of the social sciences in a well-rounded education. In addition to geography, students answer questions about world history, American history, and South Dakota. Students qualified for the geography bee through a written test, with the top two students from each grade moving on to the bee.
